A Postdoctoral Position in Nitrogen Biogeochemistry and Microbial Ecology is available in the Center for Environmental Studies at Brown University, as part of a collaborative project with the Ecosystems Center, Marine Biological Laboratory, in Woods Hole. The project is to elucidate environmental controls on rates of denitrification, anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) and dissimilatory nitrate reduction to ammonium (DNRA) in benthic environments. The project has significant modeling and empirical components. The desired candidate for this position will be an exceptional empiricist, who can work well with modelers.
Requirements: Demonstrated record of excellence in research and scholarship, strong empirical skills, and PhD in biogeochemistry or related area (microbial ecology, geochemistry, or ecosystems science). While not required, the ideal candidate will have a demonstrated record of research in aquatic ecosystems, measuring denitrification or related processes using mass spectrometry, and working well in teams.
Brown University offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The position is for one year, with the option for reappointment for a second year, depending on performance.
